Peppermint Patties

Peppermint Patties now that you can make at home, few ingredients and very simple to make.

Ingredients And Directions
Recipe makes about 28 patties

3/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 teaspoons peppermint extract
4 cups confectioners' sugar
3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
2 teaspoons shortening

In a large mixing bowl, combine condensed milk and peppermint extract. Beat in enough confectioners' sugar, a little at a time, to form a stiff dough that is no longer sticky. Roll the dough into a log about 1 inch thick by about 10 inches. ( so it looks like the refrigerated cookie dough that you purchace from the stores that you slice and bake).Wrap in plastic wrap and place in the freezer until the mixture hardens and is set. Then slice into a 1 1/4 inch circle in diameter.
In a medium saucepan over low heat or in the microwave, checking and stirring every 30 seconds, melt chocolate with shortening, stirring often. Remove from heat. Dip patties, one at a time, into the chocolate using a fork, tapping the sides to remove the excess chocolate then laying them on cookie sheet lined with wax or parchment paper until set. Then Enjoy!!!!
