Update On My Chicks And Tips On Feeding As They Grow

Update on my new girls. I purchased chicks that were born on Jan 29th and they are so cute, I have them in my house in a double duplex. They are getting bigger everyday, and everyone is very healthy.  They are still on their medicated food, and water with a splash of apple cider vinegar. I just started to give them treats. They loved their chick sticks from Agway, and yesterday was their first day for some nice warm oatmeal before bed. Their are some rules for feeding your growing chicks..Here is a quick guideline.

From Hatch to 8 weeks:

Fresh water every few hours, placing large marbles in the water is a good idea so they do not drown
Medicated Chick Starter food, and do they eat a lot at his time
Supplements: a sprinkle of garlic powder in the food and oregano the garlic will

From 8 to 14 weeks:

Fresh water every few hours as needed with a splash of apple cider vinegar
Medicated Chick Starter food, with chick grit if eating other than their food
Supplements: garlic powder, brewers yeast, oregano
You can in moderation start to give them a treat like watermelon, corn, leafy greens, moistened oats

14 weeks to 18 weeks:

Fresh water with splash of apple cider vinegar
Medicated Chick Feed
Supplements: garlic powder, just a dash in their food, oregano, brewers yeast
Snacks: Healthy treats in moderation. If they are outside at this age they need chick grit, because they start eating grass, and elements outside

18 weeks and older:

Fresh water daily with 1 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar per gallon of water
Layer food with grit
Garlic powder, oyster shell, added their food this will give them nice strong egg shells
As they become adult birds they love all treats, leafy greens, mealworms, tomatoes, pasta, rice, oatmeal, I add blackstrapp molasses to there oatmeal every night.

Note: their are many other food, tricks, snacks to give your chickens, these are just a few guidelines that I follow and worked great for me. I am not promoting anything nor I am not a expert onraising  chickens. This is strictly my advice. And to love and take care of those little babies because they will give us beautiful eggs daily as they get older.
