Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps

These packed with flavor Slow Cooker Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps are so easy and delicious, made with ground chicken, garlic, red pepper, onion, hoisin and soy sauce, water chestnuts, scallions,  brown or white rice, all cooked in the slow cooker the chicken takes on the flavors and place in a lettuce cup, sprinkle a few sesame seeds and perfection, so delicious and healthy for you.

Everyone is into the lettuce cups being filled when going out to eat, a meal that is not many calories, healthy, and you will not miss the bread, but of you do have a family member who likes their bread you can always place these in a wrap if you desire. Found this great recipe a few days ago and made that day, and making again today. Enjoy!!


  • 2 pounds ground chicken 
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, cored and finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped yellow onion
  • 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 ( 8 ounce can)  water chestnuts, diced
  • 1 1/2 cups cooked white or brown rice
  • 3 green onions, sliced
  • 1 Tbsp rice vinegar and 1 1/2 tsp sesame oil (optional)
  • sesame seeds for sprinkling before serving,  optional   
  • 2 heads iceberg lettuce or if desired (or you can put them in a wraps)

  • Place ground chicken and garlic in a large sauté pan and cook on medium heat until cooked through not brown. Drain off liquid and pour mixture into a 5 - 7 quart slow cooker. Add red pepper, onion, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, pinch of salt and pepper and toss mixture. Cover and cook on low heat 2 - 3 hours until chicken becomes tender.
  • Stir in water chestnuts, cooked rice, green onions, rice vinegar, and sesame oil, cook until heated through 3 - 5 minutes. Season with additional salt as desired. Separate iceberg lettuce leaves and serve with chicken filling then sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired. You can also use wraps ifyou don't   want lettuce leaves.
